DEC is dead; Long Live DEC!

If you think DEC is long gone, think again! In many cases, the culture of DEC – Digital Equipment Corporation lives on in the form of the DEC Alumni and others.. This says a lot about the people who work and live in DEC. I wonder how many companies today can boast of this.

And oh btw, if you’re interested in ancient hardware, here’s something on the PDP-8.

Speaking of which, Edgar Schein has written a book about the DEC culture and its legacy. You can buy the book here.

Drill, Midvalley, Jaya DIY and then some

Wake up early, drive down to Midvalley, pick up some stuff from ACE hardware, then back to Casa Damansara II (Jeff’s place), make holes in the wall to mount IKEA curtain rails, then off to Section 14 to visit Eddie at Jaya DIY center and then he shows up some new fangled overdrived luxeon LED flashlight that costs a whopping RM289! Lunch at McDonalds, back to Casa and more drilling and the bloody wall must be made of adamantium for the drill not to penetrate!
